NO on 1 Calls Out Admitted Misrepresentation in Political Ads

Portland, Maine (Wednesday, October 21, 2009)— Jesse Connolly, campaign manager for NO on 1/Protect Maine Equality called on Mark Mutty, the Question 1 campaign manager, to stop advertising false statements that even Mutty concedes have misled Maine voters.  In addition, Connolly called on Mutty to “rein in his supporters and end the anti-gay attacks” that have run in local newspapers and faxed anonymously to offices and homes across Maine. Steve Rowe and the Women Vote

Former Senate President Beth Edmonds has released a statement asking for contributions to the Steven Rowe campaign. Beth Edmonds served four terms in the State Senate and was elected Senate President in 2003, making her the second woman to serve in that position.  Environmental groups, LGBT rights groups, labor, and educational groups supported Edmonds in her 2006 run for senate, which she won. Edmonds also has been involved with the National Organization for Women. Continue reading

New Maine Poll On Health Care Reform

On September 16th, Senator Max Baucus released his alternative health care reform bill.  Senator Baucus intended his bill to appeal to both those who wanted a public option and those who preferred a market based solution.  Rather than bringing sides together, the Baucus Bill has increased the divide.  The Baucus Bill pushed away one of the remaining Republican supporters, Senator Olympia Snowe.  A new poll released by Health Care for America Now and Maine People’s Alliance has recorded how fallout from the Baucus Bill has effected Mainers opinions on health care reform.
