Teacher Man we will miss you

I seem to be writing a lot of these lately.

Writer Frank McCourt has passed. The Pulitzer Prize winning author pass Sunday the 19th at the age of 78. McCourt had been in a hospice with meningitis. The meningitis was a complication from treatment McCourt was receiving for skin cancer.

Frank McCourt is best known as the author of the memoir Angela’s Ashes. The book rocketed McCourt to fame, winning many awards and becoming a feature film. McCourt went on to write two more memoirs, ‘Tis on his later life, and Teacher Man which focused on McCourt’s 30 year teaching career.

More on the life of this amazing man from the NY Times, the Boston Globe, and Salon.
